The Matthews’ Winter Art Show is now in its 38th year, January 18-26, 2017.  The show is free and open to the public during business hours, Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., in The Matthews art gallery.  From beginners to professional, the show is open to applicants of all ages, levels, and media.  Show registration is not limited to geographical location.

People’s Choice

During the run of the show, patrons are able to vote for their favorite piece of art. The People’s Choice award is announced at the end of the show run on Jan. 26.

2017 Winter Art Show Application

There are important dates for registration, show dates, awards ceremony, and pickup.  Also, all 2D work must be ready to hang with proper hanging wire.  Work will be turned away if these guidelines are not followed.  Applications are available at the desk in the art gallery or you may download the application.

Check out some of the changes to our app fees. All fees are as follows:

  • Adults (age 19 and up)
    $15 each entry – maximum of 3 entries
  • NEW! High School (9th – 12th) – maximum 2 entries
    First entry is FREE and 2nd entry is $5
  • NEW! Middle School (6th – 8th) – maximum 2 entries
    $5 per entry 
  • Grade School (1st – 5th) – maximum 1 entry
    $5 for entry
  • Pre-K to Kindergarten  – maximum 1 entry
    $5 for entry

Each work will be judged on individual merit and ribbons will be rewarded accordingly. Ribbons will be awarded in all categories. Monetary awards will be awarded to first place ribbons in each category, with the exception of the Adult category. We have added 2nd and 3rd place cash awards. All ribbons will be given at the discretion of the judges. MOH does NOT award participation ribbons.
