The Matthews is glad to pass on the following audition notice from the Spearfish Senior Actor group, The Bukit Lizt Players.  This is not a Matthews’ sponsored event, so all inquiries should be addressed to the contact listed at the bottom of this post!

Queen Hall, Spearfish Senior Center, 1306 N 10th St, Spearfish, SD.

We will be having Auditions for a brand new one-act play, “The Age of Romance” written by local Playwright Charlotte Fladmoe, another new member to Bukit Lizt Players. This original script is warm and humorous with wonderful characters.

Auditions are open to anyone over 50 years old and admit it…

Synopsis:
A friend’s surprising makeover triggers Ruth’s imagination as she looks to rekindle the romance with her husband.

Character Descriptions

  • Ruth: (55+ age) Married to Gordon for many years, now empty nesters. Pleasant, attractive and well respected.
  • Gordon: (55 + age) Loves his wife, crossword puzzles and watching football on Sunday afternoons – not a man to show his affections very often.
  • Margie: (60+ age) Ruth’s friend whose love of gossip is part of her DNA. She has a good heart but to her, tact is a foreign concept.
  • Doris: (60 + age) Head of the Women’s group at church, Doris, tends to be controlling with her husband, with a tendency to judge everyone except herself.

The playwright, Charlotte Fladmoe, will direct the show. Rehearsals will be scheduled and decided after casting.  Full rehearsal schedule will not start until- mid September.  This One act will hit the stage along with “Ladies of the Mop” and another new piece “1-800” or “www. Screwed” (more information to come) on Oct.14th @ Matthews Opera House/Bellman Brown Bag series. NOTE, If you are already cast in a show/monologue, you can still audition for “Age of Romance” and “1-800- www. screwed”.
