Assemblages and collages have been noticeably practiced since the early 20th century. To me these techniques are the perfect metaphor for the culture of our times. Hunting, gathering, stockpiling, and sorting images, objects, and ideas become major components of my creative expression as antique and commonplace objects are figuratively and symbolically pieced together in intimate, small-scale assemblages/collages.

Today’s monthly Bellman Brown Bag Series topic was about immigration experiences. This event coincides with The Big Read book, “The Namesake.”
I have enjoyed working with fabrics and yarns since grammar school and by the time I reached high school, I was skilled enough at sewing to make my own clothes. With funds being limited during the following years, making things for our home and clothes for my daughter and myself became challenging and eventually, very rewarding.
They made it. After two different delays; one for extreme bad weather and the other for a late train. That last one is odd, but we went with it.
The 4-color, 4″x9″ rack cards feature a new event produced by our community theater for the summer. “Deadeye’s Wild West” will be performed every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in July (starts after 4th of July week).
We’ll be putting these out in the gallery, Visit Spearfish, and points beyond. If you have a business and would like to have some, come by the art gallery or EMAIL us with our request!
