You will be transported to the heart of a quaint French town, where Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman, yearns for something more than her provincial life. When her father Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to present his latest invention at a local fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle but is soon taken captive by the master of the house, a horrible Beast. Belle surrenders her freedom to save his life and, by taming the Beast, teaches him the meaning of love.

With many fun supporting roles allowing students to play objects inside the castle – Cogsworth the clock, Lumiere the candelabra, and a host of others – as well as opportunities to expand the by adding villagers, servants (including dancing flatware), and narrators, this “tale as old as time” is filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities. Even when staged simply, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. offers students a great introduction to musical theatre, using familiar songs and characters to guide them through their production.

Ann Froelich is the Director and Joanna Mechaley is Assistant Director.

Last year we had record attendance for “Little Mermaid, Jr.”  In fact, on the last day, Sunday, which is a matinee, it was SOLD OUT! That is our most popular day for any youth production.  Unfortunately, there were whole groups of families with children who did not call ahead or stop in our art gallery to buy tickets ahead of time and they were so disappointed when they couldn’t see the play.

GOOD NEWS! We now have online ticketing so you may purchase and SELECT all your seats.  Do it early.
