The Matthews’ Readers Theater presents several pieces during the September Bellman Brown Bag from 12-1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12 in The Matthews theater. Admittance is free.

One of the pieces is written by Readers Theater member, Erika Richter, titled “Second Honeymoon.” It is performed by Dennis Walkins and Erika Richter.  Also on tap is “Tell Me a Story” with Charlotte Fladmoe and Kathy Johnston, and “Candle on the Table” with Bobbe Ward, Sandi Nauman, Julie Walkins, and Hoodie Smock.

What is Readers Theater?

This actors’ group is comprised of mostly retired people. They meet when working folks are at work–although people of all ages are welcome to join. Currently, there are twelve members from Spearfish, Belle Fourche, and Deadwood. They have presented at meetings, retirement homes, and for the Canyon Hills kids — a favorite for all involved! They often do themed programs, in particular for Mother’s Day or Christmas.

What is the Bellman?

The Bellman Brown Bag series is a humanities program designed to explore ideas, history, literature, art, and culture.  Programs are presented on the second Wednesday of each month, noon to 1:00 p.m.  Designed to begin and end within each lunch hour, patrons are invited to bring their lunch, if desired, or simply enjoy an hour of learning and entertainment.
