The Matthews is recycling for a very good cause.
The “Suit Up!” fashion fundraiser is 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5 in The Matthews Opera House theater. Tickets are $10 all seats and are general admission. Before the fundraiser, the finished coats will be on display in the art gallery Oct. 20-Nov. 5. The display is free and open to the general public during business hours.
What is Suit Up?
The costume department needed to be reorganized. From Sept. 6 – Oct. 20, creative local artists and crafters took possession of old coats and blazers from The Matthews costume closet. Over 20 coats received very new lives. Artists and crafters were asked to use any, or multiple mediums, to make over the coats from our costume department. Bedazzle, embellish, paint, print, sew, embroider–the sky’s the limit. Artists also were able to accessorize their creation anyway they chose.
The mission: Recreate a coat using any creative method available – the sky’s the limit.
The result: A fashion fundraiser to benefit The Matthews restoration campaign.
Live models will show off each upcycled coat. Silent auctions of each coat will take place before and after the runway portion of the event. Proceeds will benefit The Matthews restoration fund.
A cash bar featuring soft drinks, beer, wine, and water will be available during the event.
