The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center continues its Big Read celebration of “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammett with an exhibit celebrating Graphic Novel Art. The exhibit will present the work of five Black Hills fiber artists.
The opening reception will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5 in the art gallery. This show continues to run from until Feb. 26 in the art gallery 10:00-5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.
During the month of September, The Matthews will be hosting a photography exhibit, “A Moment in Time,” featuring several local Black Hills photographers. The show will run September 4-30 and be open to the public during the gallery’s business hours, Mon. – Sat., 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During the month of October, The Matthews will be hosting a pottery and sculpture exhibit, “Fired UP,” featuring several local Black Hills potters and sculptors. The show will run October 3-31 and be open to the public during the gallery’s business hours, Mon. – Sat., 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For the past 75 years, motorcycle enthusiasts and racers have been congregating in the Black Hills. This juried show at The Dahl in Rapid City will pay homage to the people, machines, industry and lifestyle that created and sustained one of the world’s largest motorcycle gatherings – and is estimated to double the population of the State of South Dakota one week in August.
