“Angel Street” brings suspense & deception to The Matthews Stage this fall

 

The Matthews’ community theater presents a night of deception and suspense with the play, “Angel Street,” by Patrick Hamilton. Originally titled, “Gaslight,” the event runs Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 2-5, 2017. “Angel Street” is directed by Julie Walkins. The Thursday-Saturday performances start at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday performance is at 2 p.m. This is the second event of the 2017-18 Subscription Series.  

Individual tickets are $15 adults, $5 youth and BHSU students.

“Greater Tuna” brings another great comedy to The Matthews in May, 2017

The Matthews community theater will be the place to be for getting your giggle on.

What do Arles Struvie, Thurston Wheelis, Aunt Pearl, Petey Fisk, Phineas Blye, and Rev. Spikes have in common? In this hilarious send-up of small town morals and mores, they are all among the upstanding citizens of Tuna, Texas’ third smallest town.  This concert is the final event in our 2016-17 Subscription Series Season.  The play runs May 4-7, 2017. The Thursday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday performance is at 2:00 p.m.

Auditions for “Steel Magnolias” set for Dec. 15-16, 2016

Auditions for the community theater play, “Steel Magnolias” is scheduled for Dec. 15-16, Thursday-Friday, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each evening in The Matthews Opera House theater.

Community Theater presents the comedy “Art” Oct. 20-23

How much would you pay for a white painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it be art?

Max G. Merchen directs the community theater comedy production of “Art.” It is written by Yasmina Reza. The play was written in French and translated to English shortly after its creation.

“Is The Matthews haunted?”  40th Anniversary!

That was and is the question for generations. This original melodrama, written by Paul Higbee,  first appeared at The Matthews in 1976 and became a summer theater staple for locals and visitors alike throughout the 80s and 90s.  (Pictures added near bottom of this post.)
