Something is wrong on Angel Street!

Auditions for “Angel Street” were held Sept. 7 in the opera house theater.

Director, Julie Walkins, has announced the cast and crew. The plays performances are Oct. 26-Nov. 5, 2017. Congratulations to everyone and break a leg! More information about the play is linked below. Get your tickets, too.

Dakota Wind Quintet to perform Lakota student compositions Sept. 10

The Matthews is excited to present a concert performed by South Dakota Symphony Orchestra’s Dakota Wind Quintet. The quintet is playing music composed by Lakota high school youth during the SDSO Music Composition Academy at Crazy Horse Memorial. The academy took place Aug. 13-19.

The 6th Theater on the Run is back for 2 weekends in September

 

You asked and we delivered…

The 6th Theater on the Run event is back. This event was extended to a two-weekend event in 2016 and we’re doing the same this year.  Theater on the Run will be held at 6:00 p.m., on two consecutive Saturdays, Sept. 9 and 16. The plays and casts remain the same both weekends, just the downtown locations will change. On both evenings, The Matthews Opera House will be the location of the finale performance. All tickets are $25 with limited availability. The on-sale date for tickets will be announced later.

Friday Wristbands

You may pre-purchase wristbands from the Spearfish Chamber of Commerce, Visit Spearfish, Bay Leaf Cafe, and The Matthews Art Gallery. *Children ten and under are free if with a paid adult. 

Of course, you can buy your wristbands at any of the park entrances and the Watering Hole Friday night.

New Orleans band, Mighty Brother, headlines the 40th Festival in the Park

The first evening of the 40th Festival in the Park brings Mighty Brother to the Watering Hole Stage from 6-10 p.m., Friday, July 14, at Spearfish Canyon Park.

ADMISSION: This is The Matthews’ fundraising night. Therefore, admission to this event is by the purchase of a $5 wristband at the entrance of the park, or at the entrance of the Watering Hole. 

Mighty Brother is a New Orleans-based indie rock band captained by songwriters Jake Ryan and Nick Huster. They are crewed by a dynamic saxophonist, Jonah Devine, and airtight rhythm section, Kirk Duplantis and Quinn Sternberg. (scroll down for more details and videos)
