His pastel paintings are always based on a factual occurrence. Although he is often able to verify physical details by revisiting a location, that is never the primary goal. Other paintings must be guided by memory due to the transitory nature of what he has witnessed. It is interesting to him, the dichotomy between the literal truth of and even and my memory of the same tainted by past experiences and prejudices.
His aim as an artist is to render his observations as true to his original visions as his skills will allow. Tim often thinks that real art occurs at each instant of recognition before craft has an opportunity to put into play its own interpretation.
