We are happy to have Black Hills State University (BHSU) as one of our Big Read Spearfish partners.  The Honors English 101 Class has created a blog about “The Namesake,” which includes discussions and thoughts of the differences and similarities of our cultures, information on the author Jhumpa Lahiri, beautiful photography of life in India, and culinary photos of traditional Indian dishes.

This is Hayli.

Another blog is from 17 year old Hayli Barnthouse of Spearfish who is spending a year in India as a foreign exchange student.  It’s interesting to read through her eyes her thoughts about being “Hayli the Foreigner” (the title of her blog).  She has written about the culture shock and the good — and not so good things about life in India.
