The final concert on Saturday, July 15 at the 40th Festival in the Park features Boulder, CO band, The Red Petals. They’ll perform 5-8 p.m. on the Watering Hole Stage at Spearfish Canyon Park. This is a FREE EVENT.
Comprised of exports from Colorado’s rich electric scene, the band’s three members share something in common: The music comes first.(scroll down for more details and video)
J.C. McKim knew he had found something special when he wandered into a guitar shop in London – a bright red hollow body guitar from the 1960s. It was unique but simple, classic but with a new feel, bright but slightly tarnished. It was with these qualities in mind that JC started The Red Petals, a highly-anticipated blues trio based out of Boulder, CO.
Complimenting JC’s raw and technical guitar work is Austin Pacharz, a bassist that’s always aiming for the pocket, and Matt Lowber, who has a musical approach to the drums and love for the groove. For all three musicians, it is a welcomed return to American roots music and an opportunity for innovation.
The Red Petals draw influence from across the Blues spectrum, from the original bluesmen like Robert Johnson and Stevie Ray Vaughan to contemporary groups like the John Mayer Trio, and bands like White Denim. Taking from and building on the foundations that have been laid before them, The Red Petals promise to make their own unique contribution to the genre.
