Kyler Flock selected as Future Leaders Fund Recipient by Arts Midwest

August 23, 2019

The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center is excited to announce that Community Engagement Manager Kyler Flock has been selected by Arts Midwest as one of only four recipients of the Future Leaders Fund Scholarship.

“We are over-joyed to present Kyler Flock with a Future Leaders Fund award to the 2019 Arts Midwest Conference,” said Adam Perry, Vice President of Strategy and Programming at Arts Midwest. “We were impressed Kyler’s work on the NEA Big Read, along with his energy and enthusiasm for the arts in rural communities. We hope that this opportunity will help Kyler continue to do great work in South Dakota, work that will have a lasting impact on the vibrancy and creative economy of Spearfish for years to come.”

This scholarship supports emerging leaders in the arts by providing free attendance, lodging, and backstage access to the Arts Midwest Conference in September.

“I am so honored to have been selected as an Arts Midwest Conference Future Leader,” said Flock. “This is a phenomenal opportunity to not only grow my skills but also network with performing arts leaders all across the country.”

“The Matthews is so proud to have one of our staff be the recipient of this scholarship,” added Becky Naccarato Eastburn, Executive Director at The Matthews. “Kyler is a talented member of our team, and we know his attendance at this event will be beneficial to both him and the future of our organization.”

About the Future Leaders’ Fund

The Future Leaders’ Fund provides the next generation of arts administration leaders with opportunities to participate in educational programming, build a strong network of mentors, and access real-life learning experiences within the industry.

Each year the Fund recipient attends the four-day Arts Midwest Conference, where they meet with leaders in the field and participate in educational sessions about the performing arts touring industry. In 2019, the Fund will bring another next-gen leader to the 32nd annual Conference, which will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from Wednesday, September 4–Saturday, September 7, 2019.
