ArtCentral Spearfish has several exciting projects both underway and coming up!
Linking Fences is gaining momentum for our second season. We have a few community artist fences, as well as a few other community fences that are “under construction.”
Mary Ann Larsen
Mary Ann Larsen | Painter
Mary Ann Larsen’s style has evolved over the years to include rich textures and bold impasto techniques.
William Lopez | Sculptor – Ceramics
William Lopez | Sculpture – Ceramics
The collection Will Lopez has developed for the past six years incorporates a technique he calls “chip away.” When creating ceramics, the artist pushes the limits of the clay, applying pressure at a specific time, and allowing new forms to arise, with the goal of designing something delicate, structurally sound, and seemingly perfect.
Adam Hudson
Adam Hudson | Artist
Growing up in Deadwood in the 40s and 50s gave Adam a sense of history and an affinity for all things antique. Early on, he was fascinated by the paintings of swashbuckling pirates in Howard Pyle’s books. Since his earliest memories, Adam has carved and drawn.

May 2018: Spring into Creativity

Spring is the season of hope, renewal, and possibility. We open our windows to allow the fresh spring air to cleanse our home and mind. We clean out our home and put away the winter gear, hopefully including the shovels, and make room for summer. It is time to bring out the porch chairs, bicycles, and grilles. We welcome the warm breeze and the longer days.
There is a hope that comes with the change in seasons. We anticipate the end of the school year marking another year of growth; having more time for play with longer daylight hours; a fresh routine full of summer activities including casual visits with neighbors, walks through the park, sitting outside, and meeting friends for a hike. There are hopes and dreams of what summer will look like even though we know that there won’t be quite enough time for everything.
