The Matthews Opera House and Arts Center is excited to announce the winners of the Community Art Show. Formerly known as the “Winter Art Show,” this was the forty-first event of its kind to be hosted by The Matthews.
The awards are usually announced during the annual awards reception, but this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards had to be announced via video on social media.
“This is obviously a strange time for our community, but we are thrilled to still have the opportunity to feature the incredible local artists in our area,” said Darren Granaas, executive director of the Matthews Opera House. “We are very lucky to have digital tools that allow us to announce the awards and offer a virtual gallery display during this time of social distancing.”
“We have a fantastic group of artists this year,” said Heather Evans, gallery manager. “I hope everyone can take the time to look at these pieces, whether online on our website, or by stopping by our gallery.”
