Registration for Froelich Young Actors Guild is now open!

April 12, 2021

The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center has announced that registration for their summer children’s theatre program is officially open. This marks a return of the Froelich Young Actors Guild after taking a break during the 2020 season because of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Froelich Young Actors Guild is open to children entering 2nd – 12th grades this fall. There will be two productions, one for children entering 2nd – 6th grade and another for those entering 7th grade and above. Rehearsals will start in June and performance dates for both shows will be June 25 – 27

The registration form can be downloaded at matthewsopera.com/yag21 or a printed copy can be picked up from the Matthews’ gallery. Registration forms are due May 26.

“We are so excited to be able to bring back our children’s theatre program this year,” said Darren Granaas, executive director of the Matthews Opera House. “We want to do this as safely as possible so we will continue to follow CDC guidelines, which includes masking and social distancing, and our directors and staff members will all be fully vaccinated once rehearsals begin.

“We have two fantastic shows this year and look forward to welcoming this summer’s cast of kids back to the Matthews,” Granaas added.

The 2nd – 6th grades will be performing “Once Upon A Shoe or The Rhymes and Mimes of Mother Goose and Her Traveling Troubadours” by Joseph Robinette, while the older kids will perform in “All I Really Need to Know I Learned by Being in a Bad Play” by Werner Trieschmann.

“Both shows are a lot of fun, and I’m confident that the cast, crew, and audience will have a great time!” Granaas said.
